This is the final episode of the new season of DCTV’s traditional Irish music series “Coppers and Brass”. Presented and researched by Tommy Fegan – a trad scholar and musician himself – the series showcases the music, the players and the issues that often don’t get discussed in the world of Irish traditional music. Featuring interviews in studio, as well as from the Willie Clancy week in Clare and other key gettogethers on the trad calendar, each episode is wonderfully rounded off with a performance from the legendary Cobblestone pub in Dublin 7.
The sixth episode in season 2 explores the issue of etiquette at traditional Irish music sessions. Tommy’s special studio guest, publican and musician Tom Mulligan, helps delve in to this thorny topic from an experienced viewpoint. The episode also includes a performance by Daithà Kearney, joined by some students of trad performance in Dundalk’s IT, playing two Josephine Keegan jigs.
Season 1 of Coppers and Brass aired weekly on DCTV last September & Season 2 kicks off at 8pm on Tuesday, July 1st.
Episodes will be available here & on DCTV’s vimeo channel, running weekly until August 12th. Enjoy!
