DCTV is operating on a full voluntary, no cost basis and still managing a very difficult financial situation. Nevertheless, we have made some progress towards reducing our indebtedness in 2014 by a combination of debt waiver by some members and creditors and in particular the completion of a Sound and Vision project, on a voluntary basis by former staff, which released a significant portion of bank debt. We hope to make further progress on this in 2015. As ever, we are very thankful for the support and forbearance of our members and creditors.
Looking forward to the year ahead, broadcasts continue on UPC 802 but we will maintain our aspiration, and lobbying, for transmission on SaorView. As a public service we believe that DCTV and other community channels belong freely available in the public domain. To that end, we will also improve everyone’s ability to access and share DCTV programmes over the web.
We will have new material to broadcast in 2015. Several of our members have been successful in Sound & Vision applications. Their productions will be on DCTV in the next few months. We will be holding a number of Sound & Vision workshops during the year and we will support and advise on proposals as best we can.
We are already planning for our next 10 year licence. DCTV is there for any individual or community in Dublin that has something to say that gets passed over by mainstream media. If there something that you, or your community, want to produce or transmit please contact us to see how we can help.
