DCTV Guidelines for Sound and Vision Support

  1. Applicant must be a member of DCTV
  2. Applicant, as an individual member, must not be applying on behalf of a commercial
    producer.
  3. Application must be in line with Community TV ethos as outlined below.

DCTV will have a preference for programming that is aimed at and/or includes the people and
communities of Dublin and its commuter towns.
All submissions for Support for Sound and Vision Applications should ensure they have addressed
the basic tenets of the station and include the following three principles as core to their submissions.

  1. Empowerment.
Contribute to the empowerment of communities, especially those facing disadvantage or
exclusion and clearly show that they will work together with them to achieve their social,
    economic, educational and cultural objectives.
  2. Participation.
Provide the means for participation in production by local communities.
  3. Diversity
Celebrate and enrich the diversity of cultures and communities and broaden the range,
accessibility and diversity of content available to viewers, especially minority audiences and
interests that will educate, entertain, inform, provoke, innovate and challenge.

In consideration of the above and the CnaM guidelines, applicants should clearly outline how their
submission will enhance the social benefit outcomes of DCTV especially with regard to diversity,
community participation and social inclusion.
Submissions for series with programme durations of less than 30 minutes are preferable. Also
please bear in mind that community television budgets are less generous than other broadcasters. If
you are requesting more than 50k please be aware that this may put you at a disadvantage for
selection.
